Road development characteristics by time period

Roads have contributed greatly to leading the national economy and improving the citizens’ living environment and balanced regional development. With the opening of the Gyeongbu Expressway in the 1970s, the construction of expressways, national highways and local roads officially began to cover industrial complexes, freight distribution in addition to urban and rural development in Korea.
